Dr. Roy is a physician and co-founder of Astute Technology, serving as the company's President. Dr. Roy's career combines a rare expertise in medicine and technology. During her career, Dr. Roy has used her technology expertise to build complex web applications, transform ideas into successful internet-based business models, and advise and develop e-learning web applications and database driven marketing strategies for non-profits, associations and universities.
Prior to joining Astute Technology, Dr. Roy co-founded and served as President of Medical Consumer Media, an internet-based health care communications company. Dr. Roy received her medical degree from The George Washington University Medical Center where she also completed post-medical training in General Surgery. She has published over 20 articles on scientific and internet subjects and has been a frequent speaker at colleges, universities, medical centers, and associations. Dr. Roy has appeared in numerous TV and news programs including Discovery Health, National Public Radio, and The Washington Post.
She is a member of The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), The American Association of Physician Executives (AAPE), and The American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Roy concurrently holds an assistant research professorship in biochemistry and molecular biology at The George Washington University Medical Center. She has served on many boards including the World Congress on Information Technology, The Langley School Board of Trustees, The Children's Museum of Northern Virginia, the Community Advisory Board for the Junior League of Northern Virginia, and the Programs Board for Operation Smile.
Dr. Merril is a physician and co-founder of Astute Technology, serving as the company's Chief Executive Officer. His career has been devoted to improving the ways physicians and patients learn about health information with emerging technologies.
Dr. Merril has pioneered the application of advanced technologies to the field of medicine and the application of advanced web technologies in medicine. He served as the Chief Technology Officer of Health Answers International from 1999-2003. He served as co-founder and CEO of Medical Consumer Media from 1995-1999, an Internet-based health care communications company, and co-founded a virtual reality surgical simulation company that was purchased by Immersion Corporation in 2000.
Dr. Merril received his medical degree from The George Washington University Medical Center, and completed his internship in internal medicine at The Washington Hospital Center. He also completed a three-year fellowship in Computer Medicine at George Washington University and Mass General Hospitals.
Mr. Graham has been Chief Financial Officer of Astute Technology since joining the company in March 2007, and brings more than sixteen years of financial experience to this position. Mr. Graham began his successful career in the fast-paced telecommunications industry at MCI in 1991 working in Business Markets Finance for the Eastern Division.
In 1993, Mr. Graham moved over to work in Mass Markets Finance taking the finance lead on several successful initiatives including airline and retail partnerships, wireless, direct sales, DSL and local service, and providing analytic support for some of the unit's most compelling products; Friends and Family, 5 cent Sundays, 1 800 Collect, 10-10-220 and The Neighborhood.
During his career with MCI, Mr. Graham has held numerous financial positions in both residential and business markets supporting marketing, IT, sales, and service. He has climbed through the ranks as a Director of Business Development, Director Business Analysis, Vice President of Consumer & Specialty Brand Finance and Executive Vice President of Finance for Global Sales and Service. In 2006, MCI was purchased by Verizon Communications forming a new subsidiary Verizon Business. Mr. Graham was a key part of the transition team from inception through merger to ensure a smooth integration. Mr. Graham earned a Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University and is on the Board of the National Blood Foundation Research and Education Trust (NBFRET).
Mr. Koehler has been leading Astute Technology's Information Technology and Software Development since 1997. He is overseeing the research and development of the Encore and Net.SCORE products and has managed the development of a Health Learning and Management Portal. He has also been responsible for many customized e-learning solutions as well as numerous multi-media conference captures creating enduring content for client organizations.
Prior to joining Astute Technology, Mr. Koehler served in the German Air Force for 12 years as Technical Officer and in his last assignment he worked for a NATO Project Management Office where he was responsible for the software requirements management of five nations. Mr. Koehler holds a Master of Science degree in Information Systems with Certification in Software System Engineering from George Mason University and a Diplom in Electrical Engineering from the German Armed Forces University in Munich.
