Astute Technology Builds Society Branded Portals for Leading STM Publisher

Astute Technology has partnered with a leading Science, Technology and Medical (STM) Publisher to offer greater value to the publisher's society clients. The branded portal product brings the power of the publisher's huge online repository of over 25,000 titles, down to the individual society level. The portal is branded for each society and serves as an entry point and repository for that society's specific journals.

The product leverages the search and distribution power of the publisher's online repository but with a refined focus on individual journals. With custom publications and e-learning tools developed by Astute, the portal can be coupled with education, creating opportunities for incremental revenue and increased society and end-user satisfaction. Other valuable features of the product include custom 'online only' publications, alerts, RSS feeds, editorial tools, and multiple functions at the article level.

This partnership was created based on the key competencies that each company brought to the table - powerful publishing tools and Astute's long history of building successful products and solutions for leading associations including the American Society for Clinical Oncology and the American College of Cardiology.

"The portal allows societies to extend member value by creating a more streamlined experience with their publications," said Jon Merril, MD, CEO of Astute Technology. "By pairing the portal with other capabilities of Astute, the societies can extend the portal to offer access to multimedia educational content and continuing education opportunities."

The first society to leverage the portal is The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). "We're thrilled with the product and are looking forward to the enhanced value that we will be offering our members based on the features of this portal," said Jake Harris, Director of Publications for AAPS.
